It started with four months in a dictionary.

Beeblio was founded in 2020. Our founder set out to take an engineering degree in Italy starting from one word of Italian — ciao — and spent the four months of learning it before the move in a dictionary. As you improve you look it up less and less: the dictionary is a progress bar nobody thought to read.

Hence the question Beeblio still answers: what if a text could tell you which words in it are new to you? Nothing stops a reader colder than a word they cannot guess from context — at the first 300 words and in a specialist paper alike. Same problem at different scales, so the same tool can answer it.

What changed

The 2021 app found the words you did not know in a text you brought. It could not give you something to read at your level, which is the part that actually stops people. Beeblio now writes the text as well as measures it, in 22 languages.
