Indonesian reading level test — 2 minutes, 24 words
This two-minute test gives you a clear, honest picture of your Indonesian reading level. You'll see 24 words drawn from Beeblio's frequency bands — spanning the 300 most common Indonesian words all the way to the 12,000 most common — and simply mark the ones you know. Because the words are ranked by how often they appear in real Indonesian text (using the wordfreq corpus), your answers map directly onto the vocabulary bands Beeblio uses to colour-code every text you read.
The result tells you which band you can read comfortably: for example, if you know words up to the 1,500 most frequent, you already have a handle on roughly 80% of everyday Indonesian text — a genuinely useful milestone. Knowing your band helps you choose articles, stories, and graded readers that are challenging enough to stretch you without being so hard that comprehension collapses.
No sign-up is needed and the test takes about two minutes. When you're done, Beeblio shows your band and suggests texts pitched right at your level so you can start reading — and learning — straight away.
How it works
You see 24 Indonesian words, from the most common down to rank 12,000, and say for each whether you know it. Knowing at least two thirds of a band's words passes that band; your level is the highest band passed. No account, two minutes.

Questions
How does the test decide my reading level?
Each of the 24 words belongs to one of Beeblio's frequency bands (300 / 800 / 1,500 / 3,000 / 5,000 / 8,000 / 12,000 most common Indonesian words, ranked by the wordfreq corpus). The test finds the highest band where you still recognise most of the words and assigns that as your comfortable reading level.
Should I count a word as 'known' if I vaguely recognise it?
Mark a word as known only if you understand its meaning without looking it up — a vague feeling of having seen it before doesn't count. Being honest gives you a more accurate band and leads to better text recommendations.
Can I retake the test as my Indonesian improves?
Yes, absolutely — the test is free and unlimited. Many learners retake it every few months to track their progress and unlock higher-level texts on Beeblio.
